Shaida Mahomed

Advocate Shaida Mahomed was called to the Bar in 2007 and is an accredited mediator.

In 1995 she was admitted as an attorney and worked as such in commercial law and personal injury matters. Thereafter she has worked as a senior investigator at the Office of the Public Protector.  She was involved in corporate investigations and prosecutions as a state advocate at the Scorpions.  She was a Manager and senior attorney, of the Impact Litigation Unit at Legal Aid South Africa.  Advocate Mahomed has also lectured at various tertiary institutions in commercial law on a part time basis.  She is also a graduate fellow of the Legal Resources Centre. She has acquired extensive experience in forensic work and working in multidisciplinary teams.  She was part of the legal team representing mineworkers against a major mining consortium.

In 2006 she was selected as an Eisenhower Fellow and recognised as the Phillip D Reed Fellow, when she researched the practice of class action litigation in the USA.

She has attended courses in arbitration (AFSA) and in Competition Law (LSSA).

She currently runs a general litigation practise in the areas of commercial law, personal injury law and family law.  She has a specific interest in administrative and corporate laws.

She is also a keen golfer.
