Joni joined the Bar in 2009. She completed her BA (Law) and LLB degrees at the University of Johannesburg and has completed certificate courses in Company Law. Prior to joining the Bar, Joni worked as the Advocacy Training Administrator for the Johannesburg Bar Council and the General Council of the Bar whereafter she worked at the London office of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher and Flom LLP fulfilling paralegal functions. Joni has appeared in the Constitutional Court, High Court, Magistrates’ Courts and in arbitrations. Joni’s areas of work include general commercial litigation, particularly in the fields of insurance litigation, medical negligence and contractual disputes. She has acted on behalf of corporate clients, mining houses, banks, insurers, law firms and private individuals.

Joni appeared in the reported case of the South African Informal Traders Forum v The City of Johannesburg and Others; South African National Traders Retail Association and Others v The City of Johannesburg and Others 2014 (4) SA 371 (CC). Joni is a member of the Johannesburg Bar Council for the term 2014 – 2015 and a member of the Pupilage and Advocacy Training Committee and the High Court Committee.
