QUALIFICATIONS
BIURIS, LLB (cum laude), LLM (Commercial Law).
PRIOR CORPORATE EXPERIENCE Jenny has some 25 years of corporate experience, having been employed as Group Company Secretary of Anglo American South Africa Ltd, Anglo Platinum Ltd and its myriad subsidiaries. During this time she was a Trustee of Anglo & Amplats Pension Funds. Prior to that she was Head of Legal at RMB and was assigned the additional portfolios of Compliance/Risk Management/Internal Audit and Business Continuity under the Combined portfolio of Head: Governance at both RMB Asset Management and RMB Unit Trusts Limited (“RMB”). She was instrumental in securing for RMB the first A published Corporate Governance Rating assigned to a South African entity by CA Ratings. Prior to this she was the Legal Advisor to the Association of Collective Investments (Unit trust industry). She has presented at conferences on Collective Investments, Minority Shareholder Protection, specific aspects of the Companies Act, Risk/Business Continuity and Governance and published articles on the import and impact of FAIS legislation and Pension Fund Governance.
MEMBER OF TRIBUNALS, PANELS AND COMMITTEES
Jenny was appointed by the Minister of Finance as a member of the Financial Services Board’s (FSB) Advisory Committee on the drafting and implementation of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS), representing the asset management and unit trust industry and was Chairperson of the Investment Manager’s Legal and Regulatory Committee (IMASA).
She was also appointed a member of Business South Africa’s (BUSA) task team on drafting of the new Companies Act, 2008 and Insolvency Bill.
AREAS OF LEGAL PRACTICE
Jenny is a commercial litigator and her practice focuses primarily on commercial and corporate law, which chiefly encompasses company law, insolvency, commercial disputes and contracts, as well as credit and consumer protection law and the specialised area of financial services.
OTHER SPHERES OF INVOLVEMENT
Jenny is currently also a non-executive director of a financial services company – Boutique Collective Investments (Pty) Limited, subsidiary of the JSE listed Efficient Group based in Cape Town, having been appointed to the position in 2014. She is also a Corporate Governance Practitioner and Analyst collaborating with Ratings Afrika and as such is involved in Board and Trustee evaluations for listed entities, government entities and pension funds.[/fusion_text]
