Paul, after practising as an attorney in Edenvale, joined the Johannesburg Bar in 1991 and took silk in 2014. He holds B.Comm and LL.B degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. He achieved accreditation as a mediator from CD/ACDs in 2013 and from CEDR in early 2014. He joined the AFSA Panel of arbitrators in 2018.

Paul appears in arbitrations (including private, AFSA and ICC), before tribunals and in all High Courts throughout South Africa including the Supreme Court of Appeal. He is also admitted to practice in Lesotho and appears in Swaziland.

He has a general commercial practice with an emphasis on banking and financial services, company, property, insurance, insolvency, construction (including IPP and Renewable Energy Projects), education, mining and environmental law.

He has served on many of Group One’s sub-committees and has been an accredited advocacy trainer since 2004. Paul has been an oral examiner for the Bar “civil trial” examination since 1998. He has also held many appointments as an acting Judge in the Johannesburg High Court since 2013.

Paul is a member of the Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme, Legal Affairs Commission, and his interests include motorcycle racing, mountaineering, water skiing and rowing.
