Shaida Mahomed

Shaida was previously an attorney when she practised in commercial law, family law, labour law and criminal law.  For the period 1999 to 2003 she worked as a senior investigator at the offices of the Public Protector and the Directorate of Special Operations (Scorpions) where she gained her forensic skills whilst working in multidisciplinary investigative and prosecutions teams. 

She was a senior attorney and manager of the impact litigation unit, which focused on precedent setting matters and class-actions at the Legal Aid Board of South Africa. She has also lectured in public and commercial law at various academic institutions on a part time basis.

Shaida runs a general practise that includes commercial law, personal injury law, labour law, family law and medical negligence law. She has done some advisory work in governance both in the public and private sectors.

She is an accredited mediator and has sat as mediator in commercial and family disputes.  She has also sat as an arbitrator in commercial disputes. Since 2020 Shaida has sat as an Acting Judge on numerous occasions in the Gauteng Division of the High Court, Johannesburg hearing trials, motions and has sat in appeals.

Her areas of practise and preferred areas of practice include: administrative law, commercial law, family law, labour law, medical negligence law, personal injury law, mediations, and arbitrations.
