Modise was called to the bar in 2021
LLB (Wits University, 2006) LLM Environmental Law and Governance (North West University Potchefstroom campus, 2014) Research Topic: The protection of procedural rights of indigenous people when mining takes place in South Africa. Post Grad Diploma Compliance Management (University of Johannesburg, 2018).
Admitted Attorney 2009.

Prior to joining the Bar, Modise was employed as follows. Associate: Botha Du Plessis and Kruger Incorporated 2009 – 2010. In-house Legal Counsel: Kalagadi Manganese (Pty) Ltd 2010 – 2016. Senior Legal Advisor: Sasol Secunda Operations and Mining 2016 – 2021.

Modise runs a general practice. Having spent 11 years in two Mining Companies as in-house legal counsel, I wish to focus my practice at the Bar around areas of interest and specialization I have acquired experience and exposure on such as:
Minerals law
Enforcement and Compliance with the MPRDA, MHSA, OHSA, NEMA and Sector Specific Legislation
Mine and Industrial Plants serious injuries and fatalities investigations, inquiries and reporting in terms of the MHSA and OHSA
Safety Health Environmental (SHE) as well as Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) compliance, monitoring and reporting

Engagement and dispute resolution with mine local communities and other stakeholders from government and the private sector
