Pieter van der Berg  was admitted to the Bar in December 1990 and took silk in 2015.  Pieter practices in general commercial law and litigation (which includes company law, liquidations and insolvency law, contracts, unlawful competition and restraint of trade agreements), pension law, administrative law and criminal (commercial) law.

Pieter has appeared in most divisions of the high courts in South Africa, including a number of appearances in the Supreme Court of Appeal, and in various commercial and constitutional matters in the Swaziland High Court and Supreme Court. He also appears before the Financial Services Tribunal (formerly the FSB Appeal Board).

Pieter has acted as a judge in the High Court on a number of occasions since February 2015. Two of his judgments have been reported in the SALR, at  2018 (4) SA 473 (GJ) (referred to in Henochsberg and Erasmus) and 2020 (4) SA 275 (GJ) (commented on in Klopper).
